Why I Wrote It
After two novels—Mirage of the Sandstorm and The Silent Minaret—I felt the need to step inward, to explore not a character or a plot, but the voice behind the voice. This book is a love letter to storytelling itself—an art form I have spent my life nurturing, studying, and teaching.
As a creative writing instructor and host of Tales from the Gulf, I’ve often spoken about the need to document our stories, especially in a region where the spoken word has long reigned supreme. “Whispers Beneath the Palm Trees” is my humble attempt to do just that.
